Pop It Riddim – Unisyz Musik

Pop It Riddim comes with a tight little seven-artist lineup and a tidy 10-track roll call, so this is very much one of those early-2010s dancehall sets that keeps the focus on the songs rather than any big concept. Britt Smith’s “Pop It Off” sets the tone, while Em’Bargo’s “Body Nu Crawny” gets the double treatment in raw and radio form, which is usually a good sign the tune had legs. Potential Kidd gets the biggest push here too, with “Dash It Away” turning up in both versions and sounding like the kind of cut that could move a dance.

Shane’O’s “Run Off Di Place” and Versitile’s “More Money” keep the energy pointed straight at the party, and Unisyz Musik closes it out with the instrumental, giving the riddim its own space to breathe. Released in 2012, it sits right in that period when compact dancehall packages were still doing the rounds hard.
