Poor Mans Cry Riddim – Maximum Sound

In the UK reggae pipeline of 2005, Maximum Sound kept things tight with Poor Man’s Cry Riddim, a three-track set that pairs Jah Cure and Anthony B on the title cut before letting Jah Cure carry the message on his own. Frenchie’s label was already known for clean, roots-minded production, and here the riddim has that same purposeful, serious feel — more prayer than party, with “Poor People Riddim” tucked in as the instrumental coda. The Jah Cure and Anthony B combination feels especially natural, their voices pushing the tune into firm conscious territory without overcomplicating it, and the whole thing plays like a small but focused session, right down to the version at the end.
