PLENTY BAG RIDDIM produced by HARMONY HOUSE RECORDS 1997
Plenty Bag Overview
In 1997, a new reggae rhythm began its journey in the studios of Jamaica. This foundation rhythm, later known as the Plenty Bag Riddim, was crafted with deep roots and a fresh energy. The dub engineer behind the sound worked carefully, shaping the bass and drums so the music would stand out. The goal was to create not just another beat, but a rhythm that could inspire powerful songs. HARMONY HOUSE RECORDS took on the production. The label, led by Beres Hammond, was already respected for its high-quality reggae releases and had a reputation for blending classic roots with modern sounds. With this project, the label once again showed its commitment to authentic reggae music. As the riddim took shape, three standout artists recorded over it. Anthony Red Rose delivered “Gimme The Herbs,” a track that added his unique voice to the mix. Jah Cure and Sizzla came together for “King In This Jungle,” a collaboration that brought two powerful talents onto the same rhythm. Sizzla was already known for his album “Black Woman & Child,” a milestone in his career, while Jah Cure would later become famous for his soulful vocals. When released, the Plenty Bag Riddim found its way into cultural sets across Jamaica in 1997, uniting listeners with its rootsy energy and memorable performances.
