Perfect Harmony Riddim – Partillo Productions

Machel Montano and Collie Buddz give Perfect Harmony Riddim its widest pull, but the set actually feels like a Swedish-leaning dancehall compilation with a warm, melodic edge running through it. Partillo Productions lines up a mix of voices from Big Whale’s “Make I Talk” and Etzia’s “Wine Down Low” to Jah Knight and Rebellious on “Baby Girl, ” with Joey Fever’s “Sweetness” landing as a familiar anchor; that tune had already been making noise in Partillo’s orbit before this 2011 run. The riddim itself isn’t all sharp-edged bashment energy — there’s a smoother, radio-friendly sway in the programming, especially where the Montano-Buddz pairing on “Fly Away” opens the project up beyond the local scene. Myrna Braza’s “You Lit My Fire” keeps that softer lift going, but it’s the Montano and Collie Buddz cut that leaves the last, most vivid mark.
