Penpal Riddim – Ffrench

Originally released in 1997, Penpal Riddim was produced by Ffrench and keeps things tight with just one cut on the rhythm: Angel Doolas and Captain Barkey on Pen Pal. That lone combination gives the dancehall juggling a rare, stripped-back feel, with the two voices carrying the whole riddim themselves. Ffrench’s production here is more of a collector’s item than a crowded showcase, and that scarcity is part of what makes Penpal stand out among late-90s dancehall releases.
