Pega Pega Riddim lands in that Spanish-language dancehall pocket where the rhythm does the heavy lifting, keeping things taut and percussive while the voices dart in and out with plenty of attitude. Karmelo Productions keeps the set compact at seven cuts, and the mix of Cesar JS, Dublack, Fauricio Cruz and Ferranny gives it a nice bit of variety without ever losing the same street-level pulse. Ferranny turns up twice, which helps anchor the project, while Jahdiel’s “Acicala’a” and Young Tweny’s “Medicina” push the energy a little harder. Released on December 24, 2021, the riddim closes with Dublack’s “Que Le De, ” a fitting last pass that leaves the groove hanging in the air.
