Out of Trinidad’s current soca lane, Painkiller Riddim lands with that jab-friendly snap and a title that leans straight into the Carnival season mood. Propaway Productions keeps the cast tight, giving Lil Natty and Thunda the opening charge on “Headache, ” before Jab King’s “You Too Clean” and Tonick’s “Bee Keeper” keep the pace lively and sharply pointed. Afro Davii and Chumx come through with “Belly Of The Jab, ” which feels like the most fully worked vocal moment here, while the producer’s own instrumental leaves the riddim’s punch exposed in all the right places.
