Nu Country Riddim keeps its focus tight: five tracks, all from 2017, and every one leaning into jab-heavy soca with a carnival-ready snap. Major League Studio keeps the arrangement brisk and spare, letting the chants and crowd-moving hooks do the work rather than crowding the rhythm with extra decoration. Terra D Governor opens the set with “Control, ” and that tune sets the tone early, but the rest of the lineup stays in step with Muddy on “Jumbie Jab, ” Moses on “Jab Bad, ” Ghage Maddis on “Virgin Jab, ” and Area Kode closing with “Saltfish Business. ” It’s a compact release, more street-fete than glossy crossover, and the final pull comes from Area Kode’s cheeky closer, which leaves the riddim on a sly, memorable note.
