Starting 2024 on a high note, dancehall star Intence dropped a new song called “Year of Gear,” the second single from his upcoming debut album called VOYAGE. It came out online with a music video on January 1, thanks to VP Records. This release on New Year’s Day has become a tradition for Intence, and “Year of Gear” is his sixth song in a row for this occasion.
The song talks about Intence looking back on the past year, thinking about the good things that happened and remembering the people he lost. It has a thoughtful vibe, just like his previous single “Lesson,” which came out in October 2023. In the music video, directed by KD Visualz, Intence is using part of his video budget to help people in need in Kingston, Jamaica, where he’s from.
This new song is part of his first big project since 2021, which is when he released the Wounded EP and the Public Enemy No 1 mixtape. In 2021, one of his songs called “Yahoo Boyz” was a big hit, and a New York Times writer even called it “the biggest dancehall smash of 2021.” VOYAGE is expected to be a significant step in Intence’s career, and fans are excited to see what he has in store.
