New Day Riddim – Young Locke Music

“New Day Riddim” comes in as a lean little 2015 dancehall set from Young Locke Music, with just enough room for Beenie Man to dart through “Drink Up” and for Vershon and 3 Star to lock in on “True G, ” while the instrumental keeps the focus on the rhythm itself. It’s a short juggling, only three cuts in all, so there’s no padding here; the whole thing moves with that crisp, mid-2010s dancehall bounce that leaves space for the vocals to land clean. Beenie Man’s tune brings the veteran swagger, but the Vershon and 3 Star combination has the tighter, more street-level energy.
