Need A Life Riddim – Chilld Music

Chilld Music’s Need A Life Riddim feels like one of those early-2000s dancehall 45s you come across and immediately clock for the title alone: sharp, no-nonsense and cut with just three voiced sides in 2003. Singing Melody is the obvious pull here, folding his smooth, melodic approach into “You Need A Life, ” while Rasta Yute’s “There Is A Party” keeps the thing more street-level and direct, so the contrast gives the small lineup some real shape. The version side is there too, which tells you this was pressed with selectors in mind as much as singers, and that stripped-back Chilla Music treatment leaves plenty of room for the riddim to carry the weight, right down to the bare-bones title that sounds like a warning and a chant at once.
