Natty Bay Riddim – Fiwi Music

Devine Brown’s “Smile” opens Natty Bay Riddim with the kind of warm, easygoing vocal touch that keeps the set grounded, and it’s backed by a neat little line-up that also includes Bryan Art, Courtney John, Sonia Collymore and Lenn Hammond. Fiwi Music keeps the project lean: five vocal cuts and a closing instrumental, with Courtney Morrison handling the title version at the end. The whole thing runs just 20 minutes, and the pacing feels deliberate, moving from Brown’s opener through Courtney John’s “Did Our Best” and Sonia Collymore’s “You Won’t See Me Cry” before landing on the instrumental reprise. Released on January 30, 2018, Natty Bay Riddim came out as a six-track various-artists EP on Fiwi Music Jamaica.
