By 2011, Weapon X International had already settled into the kind of compact dancehall run that this Nanko Riddim sits neatly inside, with just six artists across seven tracks and a tight little roster led by Danandi, Lyndo, Rseenal, and Squasha. The set leans into a tough, sparing pattern rather than anything flashy: a blunt bass line, clipped drum work, and enough negative space for the vocals to bite, especially on Lyndo’s “Dem Start Di War (G Starr Diss). ” Danandi’s “Mi Love It” gets both edit and raw treatments, which gives the release a little extra utility, while the instrumental and mix from Weapon X International underline how stripped-back the riddim really is. It’s a short, workmanlike slice of early-2010s dancehall, carried by that dry, marching pulse and the low-end throb underneath.
