Nah Switch Riddim – Kwanaza Production 1999
Nah Switch Overview
The Nah Switch Riddim project came together in a Kingston studio, inspired by the reggae sound of 1999. The roots craftsman behind the music wanted to capture the conscious energy and deep rhythms of that era. The creative direction focused on blending real instruments and warm melodies, giving each artist space to share their message. Archibald’s track, “Guns, bombs & Authorities,” stands out with its honest lyrics over the rootsy riddim. His delivery brings a serious message that fits the conscious style of late 1990s reggae. Delly Ranks follows with “Speaches.” Known for his versatile voice and production work, Delly Ranks has also made waves with songs like “Pon Di Corner,” a hit with Mega Banton. His contribution here adds thoughtful lyrics and a smooth flow. I John I brings “Blackman Solution” to the project, using the classic reggae rhythm to call for unity and positive change. The instrumental track “Nah Switch,” performed by Nah Switch, highlights the riddim’s strength. Its arrangement lets the listener focus on the music’s layers and groove. Triston Palma closes the set with “Nah Switch.” Triston Palma is well known for his 1981 hit “Entertainment.” On this riddim, his voice brings a roots anthem vibe, tying the project together. The whole recording echoes the conscious vibes of 1999 reggae, with each artist adding their own style to the mix.
