2014 soca riddim Mr Romel Riddim comes from Advokit Productions and Platta Recording Studio, bringing together a lively Barbados-and-Trinidad-heavy lineup that includes Jadel, Lil Rick, Patrice Roberts, Porgie and Murda, RDX, and Sekon Sta. The seven-track set also features the instrumental title cut, with Patrice Roberts’ Pon De Nine, RDX’s Shella, and Jadel’s Wine Up On It among the better-known selections. Built around a sharp, uptempo soca groove, the project shows the kind of cross-island collaboration both production outfits were pushing in that period.
