Out of Jamaica’s wider 2018 roots run, Militant Step Riddim lands with a lean, militant pulse that keeps the pressure on without crowding the singers. Green Lion Productions shapes the cuts around a steady bass line and crisp, marching drum feel, and the pairing with Dre Island on One Lion gives the project its sharpest edge, while Jesse Royal and Kumar’s Rocking Ship and Million Stylez’s Dangerous keep the conscious tone moving. There’s a nice spread of voices here too, from Indie Allen’s Jah Love to King Mas and 5 Star’s Well Firm, with the label’s own megamix tying it all together.
