Warmoney Productions keeps Mercury Riddim on the tougher side of mid-2010s dancehall, with a lean, metallic pulse and enough knock in the drum pattern to leave space for the vocals to cut through. The lineup isn’t packed with big crossover names, but that gives the juggling a scrappier feel: Anthony Jiero’s “Parasite” leans into the social commentary angle, Cody Anderson and Izmah push a more commanding, rider-friendly “Warrior, ” and Rik’s “Wine Up” opens the floor a little without softening the edge. Onton’s “Drink Smock Frass” and Black Artist’s “Alé Di Yé Sa Bien” keep the energy pointed toward raw street chatter rather than glossy party polish. Released in 2015, it sits neatly in that period when producers were still chasing stripped-back, bass-heavy dancehall with a local, underground feel instead of the cleaner festival sound.
