MEDZ RIDDIM produced by SPANE BEATS RECORDS | BLACK ROGUE INTERNATIONAL 2017
Medz Overview
The Medz Riddim sound system cut came together in a lively Kingston studio, where producers and artists worked closely to capture the true energy of dancehall. The creative direction was guided by the riddim’s creator, who wanted to blend classic dancehall vibes with a modern, bouncy touch. SPANE BEATS RECORDS | BLACK ROGUE INTERNATIONAL led the project. This label is known for pushing new talents and also for working with established names in the reggae and dancehall world. Their productions often find their way into DJ sets and have made an impact on streaming platforms. Each artist on the compilation brought their own style. Sem G delivered “Smoke It Off,” a track with a laid-back, catchy hook that became a party favorite. Beenie Man, one of Jamaica’s most famous dancehall artists, contributed “Ghetto Youths.” Beenie Man is well known for hits like “Who Am I (Sim Simma)” and has won a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album. Jah Vinci’s “Ghetto We Born” added a melodic and heartfelt touch to the riddim. Jah Vinci is respected for his work with Vybz Kartel and his emotional delivery. Droop Lion’s “Hungry Days” brought conscious lyrics and a rootsy feel, while Stacious delivered “Little Bit High,” showing her unique voice and style. Each song fit perfectly on the riddim, helping the compilation dominate parties in 2017. The Medz Riddim proved that yard studios could still create powerful tracks that moved crowds and kept the dancehall tradition alive.
