MEDIANOCHE RIDDIM produced by BARBASS SOUN 2013
Medianoche Overview
The foundation rhythm for this project started in the studio with a small team of musicians. They wanted to capture the classic reggae sound, using live instruments and simple, steady drums. The musicians played together until the groove felt right, sticking to the roots reggae style that was popular in 2013. At the center of the project was producer BARBASS SOUN. Known for his work in the Spanish reggae scene, BARBASS SOUN has helped many artists bring their music to a wider audience. He is respected for his focus on pure, warm reggae sounds and has released music on labels like Mad91. His creative direction on this riddim was clear: keep it real, keep it soulful, and let each artist shine. The riddim brought together a strong lineup of artists. Million Stylez, a Swedish reggae singer known for his hit song “Miss Fatty,” delivered “Jah I love you.” His smooth vocals fit perfectly over the rootsy beat. Lasai, a Spanish reggae artist, added his track “Coulda mek it together,” showing his skill at blending reggae with his own style. Señor R, another Spanish artist, brought “Ella es asi,” giving the riddim a unique flavor. Lion Sitte, well-known in Spain for his album “Unity Sound,” recorded “Buena sensación.” Pipo Ti, who has worked with many top reggae acts, contributed “Tu método.” Each artist brought their own voice, but the foundation rhythm tied everything together. This recording truly echoed the spirit of 2013 roots reggae, with warm sounds and a classic feel that fans still enjoy today.
