May 15 Riddim – Lenkey Records

Lenkey Records kept the May 15 Riddim lean and sharp in 2016, cutting just four tunes around a tough, dry dancehall pulse that leaves plenty of space for the vocals to hit. Navino’s “Say It Done” and Insideeus’ “Cuss and Fight” bring the most bite, while Gaza Lenkey’s “Wine Ratings” pushes the more playful side of the rhythm and Echo Dan’s “Walk Out” rounds it out with a stripped, street-ready chant. It’s the kind of compact juggling that fit the mid-2010s dancehall moment, when smaller producer-led projects could still carry real weight without needing a huge cast.
