M-16 Overview
The M-16 Riddim is a reggae rhythm project that honors the deep roots of Jamaican music. This riddim first made waves in the late 1980s and became known for its strong, steady beat. Today, a fresh dub release of the M-16 Riddim gives new energy to selectors and fans, bringing classic reggae sounds into the present. Production comes from Penthouse Records, a label started in 1987 by Donovan Germain. Penthouse Records is famous for producing many reggae and dancehall hits, working with major artists, and building a respected reputation in the reggae scene. On this new project, each artist brings their own style. Buju Banton, known for the Grammy-winning album "Before the Dawn," delivers "Bobby Redds," bringing his powerful voice and energy. Pinchers, who found success with the song "Bandelero," presents "Slaughterer," giving the riddim his melodic style. Richie Stephens and Terry Garrison join together for "Tonight," mixing soulful vocals and smooth harmonies. Dean Fraser, a highly respected saxophonist and producer, plays "M-16 Instrumental," letting the raw power of the riddim shine through his horn work.
