Lifestyle Riddim (2013) – Terroflex Productions

Sizzla Kalonji, Lutan Fyah and Turbulence carry most of the weight on Terroflex Productions’ 2013 Lifestyle Riddim, a tight seven-song dancehall set that runs just over 22 minutes and keeps its focus on straight vocal business. The titles alone point the mood: “Dem A Talk, ” “Sell Out, ” and “Health and Strength” lean into conscious, everyday commentary rather than party chatter, while Miriam Simone’s “Tonight” and Ras Penco’s “My Darling” ease the pace without breaking the mood. The riddim itself comes across loud and compact, with a sharp mid-tempo drive, thick bass and enough room for the singers to work the hook lines cleanly. Lutan Fyah and Hyah Slyce seem to settle into it most naturally, and the whole set stays locked to that propulsive one-drop-to-digital feel.
