Liberation Riddim (2004) – Sirius Records

Sirius Records leans into a more conscious, rootsy corner on Liberation Riddim, with the title alone setting the tone for the two vocal cuts here: Afrikan Simba’s “Two Wrongs” and the Dennis Alcapone and Nereus Jo pairing on “No Peace. ” The music sits in that spare, militant reggae pocket, with a steady drum-and-bass groove and just enough space for the voices to land hard. Afrikan Simba brings the sharper edge, while Alcapone’s veteran presence gives “No Peace” extra weight and a sense of history. It’s a short set, but that economy works in its favour, especially with the instrumental “Liberation Riddim - Version” closing things out and leaving the rhythm to carry the message on its own.
