Lemon Drops Riddim – Stainless Records

Lemon Drops sits a little sharper than some of Stainless Records’ straight-ahead dancehall work, with a lean, skanking pulse and a bright, fizzy edge that gives the whole thing a light bounce instead of a heavy stomp. Bugle’s “Hold My Head Str8” and Busy Signal’s “The Grades” are the obvious anchors, and Busy’s cut gives the riddim a sly herb-song center of gravity without slowing the pace. The production stays clipped and clean, with enough low-end weight to keep it sounding like proper 2012 dancehall while still leaving room for the hooks to pop.
