Legalize Overview

In 2013, the Legalize Riddim brought a fresh wave to the roots reggae scene. The journey of the dub cut began in the studios of FRIENDLY FIRE MUSIC, a Birmingham-based label known for its commitment to authentic reggae sounds. Since 2001, FRIENDLY FIRE MUSIC has worked with both local and international artists, building a reputation for quality production and a strong connection to the reggae community. The dub engineer behind the project shaped the riddim with deep basslines and echoing effects, giving each track a unique texture. This attention to detail made the dub stand out, capturing the spirit of classic reggae while sounding new. Friendly Fire Band led the way with "Legalize Dub," a track that showcased their skill in live instrumentation and dub mixing. Their instrumental "Legalize It Riddim - Version" gave the project a solid foundation. Friendly Fire Band & Max Powa joined forces on "Legalize," adding melodic hooks and conscious lyrics. Lion Art’s "Legalize It" brought a powerful message, while Murray Man’s "Nah Get Away" showed his smooth vocal style. Tippa Irie & Peppery teamed up for "Humanity," combining Tippa Irie’s legendary UK dancehall flow—known from his hit "Hello Darling"—with Peppery’s sharp delivery.
