Kpn Riddim – 4 Roads Productions

Cham’s “Wah Gwaan” gives the Kpn Riddim an easy anchor, and 4 Roads Productions surrounds it with a dozen voices that keep the energy moving without losing the street-level bounce of a 2014 dancehall cut. Elephant Man’s “On” brings the kind of quick-hit swagger you’d expect, while Little Di Lion’s “Ready To Party” and Ti Killa Stylz’s “She Want” keep the mood loose and hooky. The set moves through French-Caribbean names like Choupix, Cöcö, Danjah Taï and Sorrow, so there’s a regional edge here as well as a straight dancehall pulse, and the titles lean plenty irreverent in the way good riddim compilations often do. But Cham’s opener is the one that sets the tone, and it’s the sharpest reminder that this one is built around cut-through delivery rather than studio polish.
