By 2021, dancehall in Zimbabwe was leaning hard into local swagger, and Keep Left Riddim catches that moment with a sharp, bare-bones pulse from Leftside Records and Craig “Leftside” Parks, a producer who’d already been moving between classic Jamaican dancehall and his own Keep Left imprint. The rhythm has a clipped, martial feel, all thumping kick and open space for the deejays to cut through, so the focus stays on attitude rather than ornament. Leftside kicks it off on “Advocate, ” while Vhara Muromo, Jnr Art, Princo Spice and Troyman keep the energy pinned to the street, each tune riding the same lean backbone with different shades of threat, flex and sharp talk. The instrumental closes as “Gunz, ” which suits a project this direct: no extra shine, just a hard riddim and a long run of voices testing how far that pressure can go.
