Journey Trod Riddim comes from Advance Recordz in partnership with VPAL Music and lands in 2013 as a roots-leaning dancehall juggling built around reflection, endurance and the long road through hardship. The title alone points to that mindset, and the cuts follow suit with voices turning inward rather than chasing the party lane.

Sizzla’s “It’s A Journey” gives the set its most recognizable pull, with his trademark fire-and-faith delivery riding the groove in a way that feels both urgent and meditative. Singing Sweet, one of the better-known melodic voices from Jamaica’s early-’90s dancehall period, brings a more polished edge on “Things In Life, ” which suits the riddim’s thoughtful mood. Kibaki’s “Believe In Him” and Last Chapter’s “Journey Never Stop” keep the message steady, while Arthadax’s “Jail House” adds a harder, more sobering turn that broadens the emotional range of the project.

Advance Recordz had already been carving out a lane with dancehall and reggae productions, and VPAL’s presence gives the release a distribution backbone that helped place it within the wider digital riddim circuit of the time. The instrumental version closes the package neatly, letting the pattern and arrangement do their own work.
