Jah Jah City Riddim – H.M.G Records

Produced by H. M. G Records in 1999, Jah Jah City Riddim captures a strong roots-and-conscious reggae run with Bush Man, Capleton, Jah Cure, Morgan Heritage, LMS, and Ras Shiloh across the set. Capleton’s Jah Jah City is the best-known cut here, while Jah Cure’s Love Is The Solution, Morgan Heritage’s Liberation, and the Morgan Heritage and LMS combination Never give the rhythm plenty of depth. The project came out through Morgan Heritage’s own HMG setup, part of the family’s early self-produced stretch that also helped launch Liberation as a standout 12-inch before the rhythm spread further. The result is a warm, uplifting riddim with a Zion-minded feel and a memorable late-90s Kingston connection.
