J Walker Riddim – Izes Records

Izes Records usually turns out blunt-force dancehall, and J Walker Riddim keeps that same streetwise edge while leaning on a tight, bouncy shuffle that leaves plenty of room for the vocals to jab through. Gyptian’s “Sexy Lady” gives the cut its smoothest moment, while Chi Ching Ching, Fire Links and Macka Diamond keep the vibe more rough-hewn and playful, trading in call-and-response style lines and sly badness. Munga’s “Goodaz” comes in both edit and raw versions, which feels like the project’s real final statement: the instrumental is built to hold weight on its own, but the vocal sequence shows how well Izes shaped the riddim around swagger, quick patter and a little melodic sweetness.
