IT’S ALRIGHT RIDDIM produced by PENTHOUSE RECORDS 2000
Its Alright Overview
Back in the year 2000, dancehall fans at night parties heard a new sound system cut that brought real energy to the dance. This was the “It’s Alright Riddim,” a recording that quickly became a favorite in the bashment scene. The riddim featured some of dancehall’s rising and established names, each bringing their own style. Assassin, known for his lyrical skills, delivered “Fi Mi” on this riddim. Later in his career, Assassin would work with international stars like Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar, but here he was building his name in the dancehall. Daville, who was already known for his smooth voice, sang “Tonight Tonight.” Daville would later find success with songs like “Always on My Mind.” Madd Anjju gave the crowd “Press Mi Button,” adding his unique touch. Sean Paul, who would soon become a global star with hits like “Get Busy,” performed “Why Dem Girls.” TOK, famous for their harmonies and songs like “Footprints,” gave us “Still The Wife.” There was also a team-up: TOK, Sean Paul, and Wayne Wonder joined on “West Indian Ragga.” Wayne Wonder & Showki Ru did “It’s Alright,” and Zumjay appeared with “Unknown.” The whole project was produced by PENTHOUSE RECORDS, a legendary Jamaican label started by Donovan Germain. Penthouse is known for launching stars like Buju Banton and Beres Hammond, and their productions are respected worldwide. This riddim showed their talent for making music that moves the dance.
