1968 rocksteady favourite Israelites gets a fresh riddim showcase here from Jammy’s, TR Groovemaster and Pyramid, with Desmond Dekker and The Aces’ original cut at the centre and later takes from Anthony Cruz, Bushman, Queen Ifrica, Colin Roach and General Degree, and Max Romeo filling out the lineup. Leslie Kong’s classic production gave the song its lasting lift, and the riddim’s broad cast shows how well that hook survived into the 2000s and beyond.
