Invincible Riddim – Rsr Payroll

RSR Payroll’s 2002 Invincible Riddim sits in that conscious, rootsy corner of early-2000s reggae where singers and singjays are reaching for uplift rather than chatter. The set lines up Anthony B, Jah Mason, Luciano, Norris Man, Sizzla, Tony Curtis and others across 10 cuts, with the version tucked in among a tracklist that keeps circling ideas of strength, love and survival. Luciano’s “Invincible” gives the rhythm its clearest anchor, but the riddim also leaves room for Jah Mason’s “Hey (Realize)” and Natural Black’s “Rising Up” to push the message along with a firmer edge. Riddim-ID also lists the production under Jerome James and Shawn McClymont on Rising Sun, which fits the clean, sturdy feel of the project. Tony Curtis closes it out with “Money Love, ” a slick, melodic cut that hangs around after the bassline drops away.
