Bizzarri Records takes a more rootsy, singer-heavy turn here, letting the Impossible Riddim breathe instead of crowding it with too much flash. The cut that grabs first is Skarra Mucci’s “Not Impossible To Me, ” which has that easy confidence he does so well, while Raphael’s “What A Blessing” keeps the same pulse but leans warmer and more devotional. The set also gets a nice lift from Lion D, Jah Sun, Mellow Mood, and the Deliman/Sara Lugo pairing, which gives the compilation a bit of sweetness amid the tougher rub-a-dub edge. Word on the release was that the riddim drew from an old Studio One Jackie Mittoo idea, and that older-school reference sits nicely under the 2013 date, giving the project a bit of vintage weight without sounding stuck in the past.
