HUNNY BUNNY RIDDIM produced by KUBIYASHI RECORDS 2010
Back in 2010, when soca was leaning hard into festival-ready hooks and louder, faster carnival energy, Kubiyashi Records cut the Hunny Bunny Riddim with a nine-track cast that kept the temperature high from the jump. The production rides on that jagged surf-rock guitar lick tied to Dick Dale’s “Misirlou, ” which gives songs like Skinny Fabulous’ “Duracell (We Charge Up)” and Rupee’s “Get Crazy” a sharp, restless edge, while Ricardo Drue’s “Get Wild” and Peter Ram’s “Iron Man” push the same pulse in different directions. Alex “Kubiyashi” Barnwell was behind the riddim, and the set also folds in Demus, Indrani, Problem Child, Recka, and Uncle Sam. It runs nine cuts deep, with one track apiece from nine different artists.
