A bright, waistline-ready soca groove drives Huff Riddim, with that elastic bounce you’d expect to hear lighting up a fete rather than sitting still in a playlist. GW Music keeps the rhythm lean and percussive, leaving room for the vocalists to ride the pocket, and Verseewild Dutty Android and Marzville make the first real splash with “Dutty, ” a cut that comes in both edit and raw versions, which tells you the tune had enough attitude to need both. C Diddy and Shortalina push the flirtation even further on “Wine And Bubble, ” while Maddog’s “Wine Fi Me” keeps the movement going with a sharper, more chanty edge. Iyahfyah’s “Sit Down” feels like the slyest moment here, slipping into the groove with a little less flash and a bit more command, and the whole thing still has that early-2010s carnival-season feel.
