Hold Yuh Riddim is a 2011 Dancehall release built around Ricky Blaze’s Brooklyn-made “Hold Yuh” instrumentals, the same slippery, keyboard-led pattern that turned Gyptian’s original into a crossover tune the year before. Blaze, also known as Ricardo Johnson, had already become a name to watch in the New York-to-Jamaica link-up space, cutting records that moved easily between sound system culture and pop-minded dancehall. That background fits this set perfectly: the riddim is lean, bright, and uncluttered, with a light bounce that leaves plenty of room for melody and phrasing.

The best-known cut here is Detail featuring Sean Kingston on “Hold You (Remix), ” a natural match for the riddim’s singalong feel. Sean Kingston’s presence gives the track a broader radio edge, while Detail’s vocal keeps it rooted in the dancehall-pop crossover lane that was strong in 2011. The other voiced cut, Tobo Ranx’s “My Sound, ” brings a more direct sound system energy and gives the release a tougher balance against the sweeter hook of the remix.

Because the set only runs two tracks, it plays less like a full juggling package and more like a focused snapshot of how far the “Hold Yuh” pattern traveled after Gyptian’s hit. The production’s sparse arrangement, glossy synths, and easy forward motion are the point.
