PantaSon Music Production’s Weed and Grabba Riddim arrived in April 2025 through a joint imprint with Shaqadon Productions, and it lands in the producer’s growing run as a Jamaican dubplate specialist making the jump into full-scale riddim work. PantaSon, better known around the business as “The Dubplate Legend, ” has long been tied to sound system culture and custom specials, so this one feels rooted in the same selector-minded ear: short, hooky, and aimed at heavy rotation. The release runs three cuts deep, with RajahWild, Najeeriii, and Eddy G Bomba each taking a different angle on the same groove.
The riddim sits at a bright, mid-tempo dancehall pace, around the 100 BPM mark, with a clean digital bounce and enough low-end weight to carry a party mix. It has that weed-and-grabba swagger in the title and the sound matches it: breezy but blunt, playful but still street. RajahWild’s “Bonsai Tree” is the sharpest of the three for attitude, while Najeeriii’s “High” plays directly into the theme with a catchy, smoke-hazed chant style. Eddy G Bomba’s “Fly” rounds out the set with a more melodic lift and has been one of the more visible cuts attached to the rhythm.
The lineup is small, but it gives the riddim a clear identity. Instead of crowding the beat, each voice leaves space for the instrumental to breathe, which is exactly what a good juggling plate should do.
