Henry Lawes produced Hey Mr Babylon for Volcano Records in 1981, and this two-track set keeps the focus tight with Don Carlos on Hey Mr Babylon and Little John on Dance Hall Style. Don Carlos’ cut is the better-known pull here, while Little John brings a brisk dancehall touch that gives the riddim a little extra movement. Lawes was already an important name in early ’80s Jamaican production, and Volcano was one of the labels helping shape that era’s hard-edged sound.
