Heart Don’t Leap Riddim on Moodisc and Tappa is a 1969 Harry Mudie production that pulls from one of his best-known roots-era sides, with Dennis Walks’ Heart Don’t Leap at the center and The Rhythm Rulers’ Dub Them Heart and Musically Red among the key cuts. The set also reaches forward with later versions from Brigadier Jerry, Dennis Brown, and Horace Andy, which gives the riddim a nice cross-era feel without losing its vintage backbone. Mudie’s Moodisc label was active through the late 1960s and 1970s, and this one leans into that classic, soulful JA production style that helped make Dennis Walks’ original a lasting Jamaica favorite.
