Hallowmas Riddim – Valentino

2019 was a busy year for dancehall riddims that leaned hard into leaner, digital patterns, and Hallowmas fits right into that wave with a compact four-track set from Valentino. There’s no wasted space here: Sanity Dsane1’s “Second Chance” and La Teeze’s “Ride Or Die” carry the project’s mood with straight-talking vocals over a brisk, stripped-back groove, while Natziz and Krazy Beans keep the same momentum moving through “Sha La Laa” and the seasonal wink of “Jingle Bells. ” The Halloween-themed title gives it a little extra character, but the release is really about that tight little riddim and how each artist steps into it without crowding the track. Coming out in January 2019, it landed early enough to set the tone for the year rather than chase it.
