Green Bay Riddim / Youthman Riddim – Mr Pipper Records

Mr Pipper usually turns up in the old-school lanes, so hearing Green Bay / Youthman framed as a 2005 reggae riddim gives it a slightly different feel: less revival museum piece, more compact roots set with a modern early-2000s polish. It’s a five-track run, and Anthony B’s “Before You Judge A Man” is the one that hangs around longest, riding the groove with that stern, conscious edge he does so well. Lukie D’s “Im Devoted” keeps things sweeter and more melodic, while Natural Blacks brings the kind of reflective turn that fits the riddim’s steady pulse. Cush Hunta and Shyam fill out the set without crowding it, which is part of the charm here — no overstuffed cast, just a tight little 2005 drop with enough weight to feel serious and enough space to let the vocals breathe.
