Grape Riddim (2018) – Crush Dem Records

Out of the 2018 dancehall wave, Grape Riddim comes through as a compact eight-artist set from Crush Dem Records, with a ninth cut, “Go Tru” by Virtral, appearing on some listings and nudging the whole project toward a longer, looser session feel. The lane is straight-up bashment: tight rhythms, blunt titles, and songs that move between party business and harder-edged street talk without losing the riddim’s momentum. Damn Hixxx opens with “Star Ute, ” I-Real keeps it narrative on “Story, ” and Jailah’s “House Party” gives the project its most obvious social trigger. Medician’s “Haffi Rich” and Tinka Money’s “Nah Go Nuh Weh” lean into ambition and defiance, but the last word belongs to Tufe Clhva, whose “Rastafari Order” closes the set with a sharper roots-conscious pull that gives the compilation its clearest finish.
