Global Fire Riddim – Global Fire Records

Straight out of the 2006 dancehall circuit, Global Fire Riddim feels like one of those compact sing-jay sets that caught a little heat by keeping the cast tight and the mood focused. Global Fire Records lines up Hero, Ikushini, Khani G, Perfect, Prezident Brown and Teflon over the same cut, and the sweet spot is probably Prezident Brown’s “One Way, ” where his sing-jay discipline sits neatly against the rhythm’s straight-ahead drive. There’s no overcrowding here, just seven tracks including the version, so the riddim gets room to breathe and the voices land with a bit more punch than a busier compilation might allow. The whole thing has that mid-2000s dancehall feel of a sound system-ready piece built for dubplate play, with the Global Fire version tacked on at the end like a quick nod to the producer’s hand.
