I Linx Records didn’t lean into a giant cast here; Get Vex Riddim keeps the focus tight with just five cuts, and that smaller roll call gives the project a sharper, more direct dancehall feel than some of the label’s busier juggling-style releases. Gage’s “Press One a Dem Yah” and Kalado’s “Thugs a Step” do a lot of the heavy lifting, with Lejah, NST and Shotta G filling out a tense, streetwise sequence that sits on a lean, hard-edges beat rather than anything overly glossy. The title says it all: this is vexed-up, confrontational music, built for motion and attitude, and the track names keep circling war talk, pressure and defiance in plain language. Issued in 2016, the riddim runs five tracks deep with Gage, Kalado, Lejah, NST and Shotta G on the bill.
