Geisha Riddim – Germaican Records

Mid-2001 Germaican had this one moving with a sharp, no-nonsense dancehall swing, and the draw here is the pairing of Dr. Ring Ding’s “Vom Vatter” with Sizzla’s “The Excitement, ” both riding a clean, sturdy riddim that leaves plenty of room for the vocals to cut through. Dr. Ring Ding brings that lively, tongue-in-cheek edge he’s known for, while Sizzla sounds fully locked in, turning the cut into the kind of tune that can carry a whole side by itself. The release also folds in Jack-A-Diamond and Spectacular on “Geisha, ” then closes with the version, which keeps the arrangement tight and let the instrumental speak for itself. Geisha Riddim was produced by Germaican Records in 2001.
