Masicka gets the sharper cut on Fren Enemy Riddim, his “Solo” floating over TJ Records’ lean 2012 dancehall groove with that same cool, guarded energy that made the title hit so hard. Popcaan’s “Nuh Link With Enemy” keeps the tension tighter, and the pairing gives the riddim a neat back-and-forth between youthful caution and outright defiance. TJ Records keeps the arrangement spare enough for the voices to carry the weight, which suits a project this small, with just two tracks and no wasted motion.
