Royal Goodlife Music lines up a hefty 12-track ZimDancehall set here, with artists like Wadiwa, Mr Pee, Xlan, Major General and Gudnyc cutting across the riddim in Shona and English. The tone is serious rather than flashy: titles like “Jesus On My Side, ” “Ndogogodza, ” “Ndochema” and “Misodzi” point to a run of reflective, prayerful and straight-up wounded songs, while Gudnyc’s pair of cuts gives the project a little extra weight. The release surfaced in 2015, and that timing matters because it sits right in the stretch when Zimbabwe’s dancehall scene was sharpening its own local voice. Sequencing-wise, the producer keeps the vocals tightly packed, with no filler in between, so the riddim feels designed as a straight parade of messages rather than a loose mixtape.
