Four Seasons Riddim – Fireman Crew Production

By the time Fireman Crew put out Four Seasons in September 2014, they were already working in that tidy European roots space where the arrangements stay clean and the message stays front and center. This one leans on a warm, organic groove: crisp one-drop drums, a rounded bassline, and guitar skank that leaves plenty of air around the vocals. The set pulls in a useful cross-section of voices, with Da’Ville’s “Life is Precious” and Lutan Fyah’s “Mama Love” giving it the strongest emotional pull, while Torch, Ras Mc Bean, and Zagga keep the conscious tone moving. Mixed by Syrix at Irievibrations in Vienna, the riddim has that live-room feel rather than a polished digital sheen, and the whole thing rides on a moderate pace that lets the bass walk steadily underneath each singer’s phrasing.
