FOLI RIDDIM produced by BADJOHN REPUBLIC 2018
Foli Overview
In 2018, the Caribbean party scene was full of energy and color. Soca music was everywhere, especially at big street parties called fetes. That year, one riddim really stood out: the Foli Riddim. Everywhere you went, DJs were playing it, and people couldn’t help but dance. The Foli Riddim was built by BADJOHN REPUBLIC, a producer group known for fresh, powerful soca beats. BADJOHN REPUBLIC is based in Trinidad and Tobago and has made a big mark on the soca world. Their productions often bring together top artists and strong rhythms, and Foli Riddim became one of their most popular works. This riddim brought together some of the best names in soca. Menace gave us “Shy,” a track that always got the crowd moving. Salty’s “Body Good” was another favorite, with its catchy hook. Bunji Garlin, a well-known soca star who won the 2013 Soul Train Award for Best International Performance with “Differentology,” added his song “See Meh” to the mix. Dale Ryan’s “Mama” and Fay Ann’s “Feel Good” showed different sides of the riddim, giving fans even more reasons to love it. Jonnelle’s “Foli” and the instrumental “Foli Riddim” by Badjohn Republic rounded out the project. Looking back, it’s easy to remember how every 2018 fete included the Foli Riddim. The songs were easy to sing along to and perfect for dancing. Thanks to BADJOHN REPUBLIC and these artists, the Foli Riddim became a true soca anthem that DJs and fans will never forget.
